The Ducks Are Mighty In The NHL!
Thursday, November 9th 2006 (Bob Acton)

At 11-0-4 the Anaheim Ducks are the sole remaining undefeated team in the NHL as they head to Vancouver and have a date with the Canucks. You would think that this torrid start would have provided them with some breathing room in the Pacific division of the Western Conference but think again.

The San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars have also registered 11 victories and thus remain just 4 points back of the Ducks and this must be a little bit frustrating as they head to Western Canada for back to back tilts.

The acquisition of all star Chris Pronger as expected has been a huge boost to the offence and he along with fellow blue liner Scott Niedermayer are tied for the team lead in scoring with the ageless Teemu Selane.

America’s most popular online sportsbook www.SuperBook.com offers wagering on all NHL games and the over/under totals are a huge hit with bettors this season. Since last season when the NHL decided to go to the shootout and the regulation game has ended in a tie, handicappers love betting the totals.

The key to the Anaheim early season success is the great balance in scoring as they have seven players in double figures and their goaltenders Jean-Sebastian Giguere and Ilya Bryzgalov are allowing just 2 goals a game between the pipes.

Anaheim must tangle with a Vancouver club who will be happy to be playing their second game in a row at home, after playing 11 of their first 15 contests on the road. They beat Dallas on Monday night 2-1 and are led by the Sedin brothers Henrik and Daniel who have combined for 32 points.

The Canucks also have a superstar playing goal for them in Robert Luongo who has played 15 of the first 16 games and has relinquished just 35 goals in that span.

I will be on the home side in this one and the Ducks could lose two in a row this week as they must play at Calgary on Friday night!
