Peculiar Line In Jaguars-Dolphins Tilt!
Thursday, November 30th 2006 (Bob Acton)

November 30, 2006 (Miami, FL) – The incredibly inconsistent Jacksonville Jaguars take to the sky for a second week in a row and a huge AFC game with the surging Dolphins of Miami. Jack Del Rio’s troops were on the losing end of a 27-24 battle with the Buffalo Bills and their special teams and defense was the culprit.

They allowed Roscoe Parrish to return a punt 82 yards and they failed to hold the Bills offense in the dying seconds as J.P. Losman mover his squad in position for the winning field goal. The Jaguars have lost twice to Houston, lost to the Bills and lost to a mediocre Washington team.

America’s favorite online sportsbook, www.SuperBook.com, had this game Miami -1 to open the week, but betting money has come in on the puppy and the game is now essentially a pick-em. Considering the way the fish have been performing lately, this low number is a mystery. Miami comes off an impressive Thanksgiving display where they subdued the toothless Lions without much difficulty.

Prior to that, they beat Minnesota and Kansas City at home at -3 and -1 respectively and now have covered the number 4 straight games. Many prognosticators like to point the finger at the Miami QB situation with Joey Harrington, yet all this guy has done is throw for over 2000 yards in limited playing action.

Just one more thing about the Jaguars poor special teams last week is that they now must face the Dolphins Wes Welker who is one of the best in the business. In order to limit those Welker opportunities, the talented Jaguar offensive line must continue its fine play.

Jacksonville is third in the NFL in rushing and on track to set a franchise single-season record for rushing yards. Fred Taylor is enjoying his best season since 2003, when he set the team's single-season rushing record (1,572 yards).

My take on this game is that Jacksonville hopes to pound the ball on Miami and stay away from the Dolphins ferocious pass rush and on the other side of the ball, shut down the Miami running game that will be minus Ronnie Brown.

The over/under on this crucial game for both teams opened at 37 but that number is now down to 35.5 and this could come down to field goals and a 16-13 game!
