Parlay Payoffs

A parlay (otherwise known as an accumulator) is the selection of 2 or more teams (up to 12 for mainstream US sports) in no particular order in a single wager.  All selections must win for the parlay to win; if there is a tie or no action the parlay reverts to the next lowest number for pay-off, for example: if you select 4 teams and one of those ties, it becomes a 3 team parlay.  A tie and win on 2 team parlay becomes a straight bet (paying at 90% of the wager).

The odds quoted in the pay-off table below only hold true if all selections in the parlay are at the same price: -110 for the Regular Daily Parlay Odds and -105 for the Special Friday Odds on point spreads.  Variations from these prices will cause variations in the pay-offs.

Progressive Parlays

There are very few sportsbooks that offer Progressive Parlays - less than a handful - and you will not find these anywhere in Las Vegas.  SuperBook.com invented the Progressive Parlay six years ago and continues to dominate the competition in payout value.
How does a Progressive Parlay work?  In fact, it's quite simple.  In exchange for not getting quite as big a payout for picking a perfect combination, you are getting insurance for those occasions when one or more of the teams in your parlay loses.

Let us look at an example.  An 8 team progressive parlay for $10 will pay out $750 for making a perfect 8 team winning combination.  If you hit 7 winners then you win $100.  And if you only bring home 6 winners then you will still find a winning ticket for $20.

Please note that Progressive Parlays also differ from regular parlays in the following ways:

  1. Progressive parlay odds are based on point spread wagering options only.  The payout calculations are based on these odds.
  2. Progressive parlays are not available for MLB, NHL or money-line wagers in football or basketball.
In a Progressive Parlay, a push or a tie is considered a loss for that selection.  However, if a selection has no-action (due to postponement or cancelation), the bet will revert to the next lowest progressive parlay for payoff.

Take a look at the extraordinary value that SuperBook.com is offering.

" Place a $10 wager on a 12 team parlay at our competitors and you win $6,000 if you get all 12 right. You lose $10 if you miss just one team.
" Place a $10 wager on a 12 team parlay at SuperBook.com and not only do you win 50% more, or $9,000, if you get all 12 correct, but you still win $100 even if 2 of your teams lose.

Note: Progressive parlay odds are based on point spread wagering options only. The payout calculations are based on these odds. Progressive parlays are not available for MLB, NHL or money line wagers in football and basketball.

Note:  On our special 3 team 10 point football or 7 point basketball teasers (sometimes known as Sweetheart teasers and not included in the table above), odds are 10/12 and ties lose.  Only point spreads may be placed in these special teasers.

TEASERS

A teaser is a selection of two or more teams in one wager in which the point spread or total is adjusted in your favor.  The number of teams selected and the number of points selected determines the payout odds.

  • A ‘tie’ or ‘no action’ and a ‘win’ on a 2 team teaser shall constitute a ‘no action’ wager.
  • A ‘tie’ or a ‘no action’ and a ‘loss’ on a two team teaser shall constitute a ‘losing’ wager.
  • Ties on a 3 or more team teaser shall revert to the next lowest betting bracket for pay-off:  for example: A 5 team teaser with one tie becomes a 4 team teaser (except on our special 3 team 10 point football or 7 point basketball teasers, on which the odds are 10/12 and ties lose).

An example of a teaser is as follows:
Let’s say you wish to choose three football teams: Denver -7, New York -3 and Chicago +15.  The payout of the wager is dependent upon how many points you wish to receive.  Let’s say you choose a 3 team 7 point teaser.  Looking at the chart above, this wager is listed as 10/12, which means you will win $10 for every $12 that you wager.  The point spreads are adjusted as follows:

  • Denver -7 plus the adjusted seven points = 0
  • New York -3 plus the adjusted seven points = +4
  • Chicago +15 plus the adjusted seven points = +22

If all of the three teams win against the adjusted spread, you win $12 for every $10 you wager.

True Odds for Baseball and European Lines

The odds on a money-line parlay (or accumulator) are calculated by multiplying the prices of the selections together, but remembering to include the stake amount.  Let's assume you place a $10 parlay on 2 selections, with odds of -180 and +250.  The calculation to work out your return is as follows:

First of all, you must convert the odds into decimal format.

With ‘favorite’ prices (denoted by a – (minus) sign):

100/180  =  0.556  and add 1 (to include the stake) = 1.556

With ‘underdog’ prices (denoted by a + (plus) sign):

250/100  =  2.5  and add 1 (to include the stake) =  3.5

To find your total potential return, multiply these odds together and with the stake:

1.556  x  3.5  x  $10  =  $54.46

Conditions

No parlay wagers can be accepted where individual wagers are ‘connected’, ‘dependent’ or ‘correlated’.  Using a baseball game as an example, let's say one selection in your parlay is for the Boston Red Sox to win on the money-line and the second or additional part of the parlay is for the Boston Red Sox on the run-line.  If the Boston Red Sox win the game, it is also likely that they will win by at least two runs therefore the selections are said to be ‘correlated’ and cannot be parlayed together.

In the same way, you cannot parlay the total of the first half of a football game with the total of the game line itself, as the two are ‘dependent’.  Less obviously, but nonetheless correlated, are the favorite/underdog on the spread and the over/under of the same game placed together in a parlay bet.
