Tired Mavericks could disappoint in Charlotte

The NBA can be an unfair grind at times. And while nobody feels sorry for the talent-rich Dallas Mavericks, even they can fall victim to the rigors of the Association’s sometimes-mysterious schedule. Friday night, the Mavericks were thumped in Philly, losing 111-101 to the 76ers. Tonight, they’ll wrap up their five-game road trip in Charlotte, a team that should be well rested, as it hasn’t played since Wednesday.
While the Mavericks road trip was ultimately successful – beating the Rockets, Celtics and Nets to kick things off – they looked tired and overmatched in Philadelphia. Most notably, star guard Luka Doncic went just 5-for-20 from the floor, posting a lackluster 17-point night that included an uncharacteristic six turnovers.
Feels a little like the Mavericks have already packed their suitcases, doesn’t it?
Charlotte, meanwhile, has a lot to play for. At 35-25, the Hornets currently sit in 10th place in the East and are within striking distance of the Hawks (35-35) and Nets (37-34). They should be ready to go when tired Dallas squad rolls into town tonight.
