The Los Angeles Dodgers will jumpstart their season against the Colorado Rockies

April 8, 2022

Dodgers at Rockies

Coors Field – Denver, CO
4:10 PM ET
Los Angeles -210

One team is the favorite to win the World Series at 9-to-2. The other is one of the biggest long shots in Major League Baseball at 100-to-1.

There are plenty of reasons for these numbers. One look at the rosters provides a pretty clear picture.

The Dodgers are loaded with household names and superstars. The Rockies look like a glorified triple-A team.

In the opener, Los Angeles sends Walker Buehler to the mound. He was 16-4 with a 2.47 ERA a season ago. Buehler has also had a lot of success against Colorado. He’s 6-2 during his career against the Rockies, with a 4.2 ERA and 101 strikeouts. Buehler is also 2-0 in his last five starts at Coors Field.

On the other side, the Rockies trot out Kyle Freeland for opening day. The lefthander is just 12-22 across the last three seasons, a huge decline after his 17-7 campaign in 2018. Colorado is hoping the hometown hero can return to form, but a three-year stretch of futility suggests that’s not likely.

Anything can happen on opening day. After all, the Rockies beat the Dodgers to open the season a season ago. But it’s unlikely that happens again.

Los Angeles is the far superior team. They’ll get the season started on a good note.
