The Arizona Cardinals have been on quite the roller coaster ride since Dec. 12, 2022. If you aren’t familiar with the relevance of this date, it’s because you aren’t a Cardinals fan or you are a diehard fan who is trying to forget about what happened.

On Dec. 12 of last year, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray went down with an ACL tear. Murray was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and is the franchise QB for Arizona. His injury could keep him out for the entire season or at least the majority of it.

To make matters worse, the Cardinals now have a brand-new head coach and lost their best wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins. It’s most definitely a rebuild year for Arizona, which makes betting on their season even more necessary in order to make it fun.

What to like about the Cardinals…

  • It seems as if their win total just keeps getting lower. The Cardinals over/under is 4.5, the lowest for any team in the NFL. The under currently has better odds at -120. With the Cardinals being in a rebuild year, it is very possible that the under hits on this one.
  • A fun bet that SuperBook provides is the “Last Winless Team” bet, where you can bet on which team will have zero wins for the longest amount of time. Right now, the Arizona Cardinals are heavy favorites at +450. Sure, it may be a negative thing, but hey, it’s a fun bet!
  • James Conner is one of the few bright spots on the Cardinals roster. In 2022, he rushed for 782 yards and seven touchdowns which was an improvement over his 2021 season. He will be the workhorse running back for the Cardinals in 2023 and if he can stay healthy, he can most certainly rush for 1,000 yards. At +350, a bet is worth every penny.
  • The worst regular-season record is similar to the last winless team bet, but it has better odds. At +200, the Cardinals are the favorites to have the worst record in the NFL. So if you’re a Cardinals fan, at least you can make some money if your team is the worst in the league.

What not to like about the Cardinals…

  • For obvious reasons, a bet on the Cardinals to win the Super Bowl would be a complete waste of money. According to SuperBook, they are in a league of their own when it comes to long-shot odds as they +30000 to win the Super Bowl. The next closest team is the Texans at +20000
  • Similar to the Super Bowl bet, the idea of Arizona making the playoffs is also not worth making. At +2500, the Cardinals are highly unlikely to win their division. The 49ers are the favorite and the Seahawks aren’t far behind them. It would take a miracle for the Cardinals to contend with them.
  • It’s certainly not impossible for the Cardinals to get five wins. Like any team, they have plenty of winnable games on their schedule. But winnable doesn’t mean a guaranteed win. The Cardinals have zero of those on their schedule. So while they might get lucky and win a few, it’s hard to see the Cardinals winning more than four games.

Steve Quinne’s Pick: Cardinals to be the last winless team (+450)

The best bet to make on the Arizona Cardinals for the 2023 season is for them to be the last winless team. Not only are they the favorites for this prop bet, but it also seems like the most fun to root for. It won’t take an entire season, and it will make the beginning of the year incredibly interesting.
