The New York Yankees will bully the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Camden Yards

May 16, 2022

The best team in the AL East will continue its dominance in a divisional mismatch

Yankees at Orioles

Oriole Park at Camden Yards – Baltimore, MD

7:05 PM ET

New York -190

Sometimes, the answer is obvious. It’s in plain sight, for everyone to see. It’s clear as day, not hard to decipher.

Such is the case tonight when the Yankees take on the Orioles. It’s painfully obvious that New York is the far superior team.

They enter the game as the only team in Major League Baseball with less than 10 losses. At 25-9, a winning percentage of .735, they boast the best record in the game and sit atop the American League East by 4.5 games.

Down the standings, Baltimore is barely out of the division cellar. At 14-21, they’re just a half game ahead of the Red Sox for last place in the AL East.

Recent trends show why. The Yankees have won six out of their last seven games, while the O’s have dropped three straight. New York took three out of four from the White Sox this weekend, outscoring Chicago 32-15 along the way. Meanwhile, Baltimore got swept by Detroit, a team that entered the series with just nine wins on the season.

Not surprisingly, the Yanks rack up wins behind the power of their bats. Aaron Judge leads MLB in home runs with 12. Giancarlo Stanton is fourth in the American League in that category with 10, while Anthony Rizzo is right behind him with nine.

On the season, New York has scored 167 runs. Baltimore has managed just 114.

It’s a mismatch. It’s obvious.

Don’t overthink things. Go with the Yankees over the Orioles tonight.
