Capitals at Oilers

Rogers Place – Edmonton, AB

Edmonton -125

Tonight’s TNT game features a match-up with big-time playoff implications. Both the Capitals and the Oilers are in the thick of the postseason race.

Currently, Washington sits in the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference. They have a comfortable lead, sitting 12 points ahead of Columbus. But their sights are above them in the standings, as they trail Boston by just two points.

Meanwhile, Edmonton is trying to claw their way up the standings out West. The Oilers are currently in ninth, but they’re only three points behind Dallas, four in back of Nashville and Vegas, and five away from Minnesota.

With both teams having a lot to play for, recent trends are the focus. And that favors the Caps.

Washington has won three games in a row, including a rally from a 2-0 deficit last night against the Pacific Division-leading Flames. Meanwhile, Edmonton has dropped three in a row, including a 3-1 loss on Monday night in Calgary.

The Capitals are hot. The Oilers are not.
